London: The share price of Rolls-Royce dived more than 4.0% on Thursday after a plane engine made by the British group caught fire in mid-air, forcing an Airbus superjumbo to make an emergency landing.
Rolls-Royce slumped to 626 pence, down 4.35%. It recovered slightly to stand at 629.5 pence in late morning trade on London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index, which was up 1.76%.
A Qantas A380 with more than 450 people on board made a dramatic forced landing in Singapore on Thursday, trailing smoke from a blackened engine, in the Airbus superjumbo’s first mid-air emergency.
