Mumbai: The rupee was weaker on Tuesday tracking weak domestic shares and losses in Asian peers.
At 9:25am, the partially convertible rupee was at Rs 45.3600/45.3675 per dollar, weaker than Monday’s close of Rs 45.06/07.
Shares tumbled 2.2% in early trade on Tuesday, as worseing condition in quake-stricken Japan sent markets in Asian sharply lower.
Most Asian currencies were weaker against the dollar on Tuesday.
The index of the dollar against six major currencies was up 0.37% at 76.635 points, above 76.518 points at the close of the local forex market on Monday.
