Markets gain in early trade, TCS leads

Mumbai: Shares opened 0.5% higher on Tuesday, led by gains in financials and software shares.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) rose more than 3% in early trade, after the company beat market expectations with a 30% jump in quarterly profit.

At 9:16 am, the 30-share BSE index was up 0.8% at 19,031.91 points, with 26 components rising.

The 50-share NSE index was up 0.8% at 5,697.50 points.
