Markets extend losses to 1%; financials decline

Mumbai: Indian shares extended losses to 1% by noon on Thursday, with financials leading the decline, as world stocks traded sharply lower on mounting concerns in the euro zone.
At 12:04pm, the 30-share BSE index was down 1.07% at 16,904.71 points, with 27 components trading in the red.
The 50-share NSE index was down 1.1% at 5,070.70.
Shares fell 0.2% in early trade with Infosys Technologies and Reliance Industries leading the decline, as world stocks extended losses on concerns in the euro zone.
At 9:01am, the 30-share BSE index was down 0.23% at 17,048.19 points, with 23 components trading in the red. The 50-share NSE index was down 0.3% at 5,112.
