Markets rise to highest in 2-1/2 years
Mumbai: Mumbai: Indian shares trading at their highest in two-and-a-half years extended gains to 1% on Thursday morning, with financials leading the rise.
At 11:17am, the 30-share BSE index was up 0.97% at 18,433.46 points, with 27 components advancing. It climbed as much as 1% to 18,442.24, its best since February 2008. The 50-share NSE index was up 0.9% at Rs5,525.70.
Markets rose early with Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Industries leading the rise, taking cues from firm Asian markets.
At 9:03am, the 30-share BSE index was up 0.38% at 18,326.72 points, with 26 components advancing. It climbed as high as 18,345.16, its best since February 2008.
