Mumbai: The rupee was nearly flat in afternoon trades on Tuesday as a choppy euro offset comfort from strong Asian currencies and positive local equities.
At 2:24pm, the partially convertible rupee was at Rs 45.0400/0425 per dollar, little changed from Monday’s close of Rs 45.03/04, but down from 44.96 touched in early trades.
The euro was at $1.4273 after moving in $1.4327-$1.4255 range so far in the day. It had been $1.4209 at the end of local forex trade on Monday.
The index of the dollar against six major currencies was down 0.01% at 75.384 points. It had been 75.544 points when domestic currency trade shut on Monday.
Most Asian currencies gained against the dollar.
The benchmark share index was up over 0.4%, but had turned briefly negative after a positive opening.
