Japan stocks gain as US fears ease

Tokyo: Japan’s Nikkei share average rose 3% on Thursday, 6 March, after hitting a six-week closing low the previous day, with exporters such as Canon Inc rising on a stabilising yen and easing concerns about a US recession.
As of 0431 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei average was up 2.9% at 13,345.78 after briefly rising more than 3%.
The broader Topix index was up 2.5% at 1,295.64.
