I have 45 shares of Hindustan Unilever Ltd purchased at Rs233.50. I am a long-term investor. How long I should hold my portfolio?
— Ankit
Hindustan Unilever is a good portfolio stock which can work as good shock absorber for the entire portfolio. Unless you have a better investment option, you may hold this stock..
I want to buy stocks for the next five years and I have Rs50,000 for investment. Which sector should I invest in?
—Shweta
Five years is a very good period for investment. However, during this time you should regularly appraise your portfolio—at least once a year. I think GAIL(I) Ltd, Power Grid Corp. Ltd and NTPC are very good bets.
For this period there is no one sector, but a host of sectors which would do well and would also see industry cycles.
