In 2011 Indian ultra high networth individuals (HNIs) invested in relatively low-risk instruments, according to the report ‘Top of the Pyramid’ conducted by Kotak Wealth Management and Crisil Ltd. Ultra HNIs, households with a minimum average networth of R25 crore, preferred to adopt a long-term approach to investments and believed that gold and debt are the safest asset classes in difficult times.
