Mumbai: The bearish sentiments in the market has taken its toll on the Information Technology stocks, which fell by over five per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange in the morning trade today.
The IT index opened down at 2,852.54 points and further dipped to touch a low of 2,797.85, down 5.07%. It was later quoted down by 4.38% at 2,811.21 points.
Reflecting the fall in IT index, Satyam Computer Services fell by 6.41% to Rs270.50. It was later trading at Rs275, down 4.84%. Over 1.33 lakh shares got traded on the BSE.
IT bellweather Infosys Technologies opened at Rs1,370 and dipped to touch an intra-day low of Rs1,317, a drop of 5.73% in early morning trade on the BSE. Over 1.02 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE
Further, scrip of HCL Technologies plunged by 4.36% at Rs157.90. It opened at Rs161.35 and over 60,000 shares got traded.
Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd, TCS and Patni Computers dropped in the range of 1-3% in early morning trade on the bourse.
