Europe shares fall; banks, electricity stocks weigh
London: European shares fell more than 2% in morning trade on Tuesday, led lower by banks and electricity stocks, as investors traded cautiously in the fourth-quarter earnings reporting season.
At 0934 GMT, the FTSEurofirst index of top European shares was down 1.9% at 837.28 points after falling as low as 835.05 points. It closed 1.6% lower in the previous trading session and lost 45% in 2008.
Barclays fell 8.3%, UBS lost 5.2% and Royal Bank of Scotland slipped 4.7%.
