New Delhi: The markets ended flat after a choppy session with the benchmark index closing 51 points higher at 15,168 levels.
The Sensex moved in a range of 14,888 – 15,228 levels in intra-day deals. In broader markets, the 50-issue NSE index gained a modest 6 points to 4,529 levels.
“A correction in overseas markets is likely to keep the sentiment bearish in India. Major factors like FIIs continuing offloading in equities my also add pressure,” said a technical analyst with Sharekhan.
Technology counters were the worst hit at bourses with the BSE IT index sliding 1.7% or 69 points by close. Wipro and Infosys Technologies skidded over 2% each. TCS Limited, Satyam Computer, NIIT Limited and Patni Computer also lost ground.
