Mumbai: State-run, Union Bank of India, is planning to launch mobile banking by June-end and has finalized Chennai-based B K Sytems as its technology partner to roll out the service, a top UBI official said.
“The bank expects to launch the service by the end of June and is presently undertaking the process of implementation," Union Bank’s executive director, TY Prabhu, told PTI here.
The bank also plans to offer full-banking services to its customers via mobile phones through the service roll out.
These include account-to-account money transfer, mobile payments and account status enquiry amongst other services, Prabhu said.
UBI had launched SMS banking services in December last year, enabling its customers to avail basic banking services such as availing account informations, mini statements on the last few transactions and making cheque book requests by sending SMS.
Meanwhile, State Bank of India, country’s largest, is also planning to roll out Mobile-banking service around the same period and has reportedly entered into an alliance with a Mumbai-based technology company, to offer service to its customers.
