His second movie Unishe April (19 April), won two National Film Awards in 1995, including the Award for the Best Feature Film and for Best Actress for Debashree Roy.
Ghosh’s Dahan made in 1997 won the National Film Award for Best Screenplay. Dahan was also nominated for the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 1998.
Ghosh’s 1999 film Bariwali was again among the National awards winning actress Kirron Kher the Best Actress award. Ghosh also won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema Award during the Berlin International Film Festival in 2000 for the movie.
Asukh, another Bengali movie made by Ghosh in 1999, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. Asukh also got the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Prize (Special Mention) in 1999 at the Bombay International Film Festival.
The 2002 film Titli by Rituparno Ghosh, starring Konkona Sen Sharma, Aparna Sen, Mithun Chakraborty, also won the FIPRESCI Prize (Jury Prize) in the same year.
Shubho Mahurat made by Ghosh in 2003, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali and also the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Raakhee.

Ghosh won the National Film Award for Best Direction for his 2010 Bengali film Abohoman. Film actress Ananya Chatterjee won the National Film Award for Best Actress and the movie got National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali.
