Android smartphones are growing hugely popular, but most users don’t know how to get the best experience out of them. Some very simple tips can make a very big difference. Installing apps can transform your experience – apps have become such a buzzword that everyone knows about them. But there’s another category of downloads from the Google Play Store – Widgets, that most people don’t know about.
A widget is a dynamic version of an app, which displays information in a tile on the homescreen, so you can see the latest Facebook update, for example, without having to start the app at all. It’s a big time-saver, and also makes the screen look more attractive.
Another thing that most people don’t really know much about is good battery management. By switching off 3G and WiFi on your device when not needed, you will see a major boost to the battery life. This is because both 3G and WiFi antennae on your phone are consuming battery power even when not connected to a network, and this only stops when you manually switch them off. Which can be done extremely simply – by using a widget!
