Before it was built, there was no signal system for ships coming to Puducherry. 2/6The Mairie (Town Hall) building, also known as Hotel de Ville, collapsed in November. 3/6The 300-year-old court building housed the court of first instance, called Juge de Paix (court of premier instance), and the high court, called Court of Appeals. 4/6The Calve College Government Higher Secondary School was built in 1886. 5/6The VOC Government Boys Higher Secondary School, previously known as Ecole Primaire, was also built in 1886. 6/6Pensionnat De Jeunes Filles was founded in 1826, on Rue Dumas, Puducherry.
