In full bloom, the Mughal Gardens in central Delhi, are a sight for sore eyes. As they open for public viewing, Mint photographer Pradeep Gaur captures their beauty.

The Mughal Gardens at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi are in full bloom. The gardens that span about 15-acres, were designed by the British architect Edwin Lutyens.

Although the gardens have more than 120 varieties of roses, the main attraction, this year, is the 2,500 dahlias in a riot of colours.

The gardens also comprise a herbal section with around 33 medicinal plants and a Bonsai garden with about 250 Bonsai plants.

There is also a musical fountain that was established in 2005, and plays to the tune of a shehnai and Vande Mataram.

Many of the roses have names like Mother Teresa, Arjun, Bhim, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, John F. Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth and even Mr. Lincoln named after visiting dignitaries as well as mythological figures.

There is also a spiritual garden that consists of plants like Rudraksh, Chandan, Banyan, Peepal, Fig etc.

The gardens will be thrown open to the public from February 16 to March 17, after President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurates the Udyanotsav on 15 February.

Differently-abled and visually-impaired people can visit the gardens till March 19. There are special days for personnel from the armed forces as well.
