Football might be the current fad, cricket the national obsession, but the sport where we’re actually doing the best is badminton. On Sunday, Saina Nehwal beat Japan’s Sayaka Sato in the Indonesian Open, capping a winning streak that has seen her win three major tournaments in June. It’s the best that Indian badminton has seen since Prakash Padukone’s wins in 1980. At No. 3 on the world rankings, Nehwal is the only non-Chinese in the top 5.
