Fifty years after Yuri Gagarin went on a voyage of discovery, space is not the final frontier anymore. From weather satellites to those snooping on countries trying to develop nuclear weapons secretly, once extraordinary applications, space technologies have become a part of daily life. So is there anything left to explore? Plenty. At the moment, any idea of colonizing space appears laughable given the primitive state of technology compared with what is required for that task. But growing demand for resources on earth will ensure that dream never dies.
