Whoever said truth is stranger than fiction must have had inside knowledge of the 2G scam. The latest twist in the saga came on Monday when the doctor who conducted the autopsy of the alleged accomplice of former telecom minister A. Raja claimed that he had resigned on 3 March (well before the purported suicide of the accomplice) to contest the coming elections in Tamil Nadu. The controversy over the alleged improper allotment of air waves to telcos features Raja and several of his aides and the now-dead associate, members of DMK patriarch Karunanidhi’s family, a powerful lobbyist, several journalists, half a dozen companies, and shady intermediaries registered in tax havens, but the doctor’s pronouncement has given it the one thing it lacked from the cinematic perspective: a joker in the pack. Now, the deck is indeed complete.
