EGoM likely to meet on 7 Dec to discuss spectrum-related issues

New Delhi: The empowered group of ministers that is looking into spectrum-related matters will likely meet on 7 December to discuss a number of pending issues, a Department of Telecommunications official said, requesting anonymity. The issues include the auctioning of unsold spectrum in the 800Mhz and 1800Mhz bands as well as any change in the pricing of this spectrum.
“The meeting has been postponed twice already,” the official said.
The ministerial panel, headed by finance minister P. Chidambaram, is also expected to discuss the auction and refarming of spectrum in the 900Mhz band as well as the auction of FM radio phase III licences.
