Mumbai: Engineering and construction company Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T) said on Friday it restructured its information technology and engineering services business to accelerate growth in these segments.
L&T Infotech has been reorganized around two business clusters—industrials and services—and L&T Integrated Engineering Services (IES) will be rebranded L&T Technology Services, the company said in a statement.
As a part of this strategy, it has inducted three US-based professionals—Keshab Panda, Mukesh Aghi and Vivek Chopra—on the L&T Infotech board.
L&T Technology Services will offer customized engineering services and include embedded systems deployed in product and plant electronics and custom firmware for the telecom equipment industry.
Panda, chief executive of L&T Integrated Engineering Services, will hold the same rank in the renamed unit and be on the board of L&T Infotech for maximizing synergies.
Under L&T Infotech’s new structure, the services cluster will include banking, financial services, insurance and areas such as travel and logistics, media and entertainment and healthcare.
This group will house the testing, mobility, infrastructure management system and business intelligence/data warehouse divisions. Aghi will be the chief executive of the services cluster and a whole-time director of L&T Infotech.
The industrials cluster will leverage the company’s existing strengths and heritage to address manufacturing plants, establishments including wholesale, retail sale of products and establishments dealing with energy and utilities. This group will house horizontals of SAP, enterprise integration, Oracle as well as manufacturing execution systems. Chopra will be chief executive of the industrials cluster and whole-time director of L&T Infotech.
