Solar eclipse observed as National Sun Festival in MP
Bhopal: The total solar eclipse on 22 July will be observed as National Sun Festival by the Science Centre here.
Thousands of children from several states and Union territories including Madhya Pradesh will take part in this event which will be organised from 21 July to 23 July, official sources said here today.
Senior scientists and experts including ex-UGC chairman and chairman of the steering committee of National Curriculum Framework, Yashpal and Anuj Sinha will also attend the Mahotsava which will be held with the cooperation of New Delhi-based National Council for Science and Technology Communication, they said.
Rashtriya Surya Mahotsava (National Sun Festival) will be organised at Oriental Group of Institutions, Raisen Road, Bhopal during which many astronomy-related activities will be undertaken, they added.
Next day, they assemble at Bhimbethka, near Bhopal at 5.30 am to watch and analyse solar eclipse scientifically, they said, adding on the last day certificates and prizes will be distributed to the participants.
Students and teachers from Andaman and Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Orissa, Pondicherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh will take part in the three-day long festival.
