Swine flu toll tops 50; 3,440 cases reported

San Jose/London: The death toll from swine flu crossed 50 on Saturday as Costa Rica reported its first fatality from the virus and Japan and Norway joined a growing list of nations with confirmed cases.
Twenty-nine countries have now officially reported 3,440 cases of swine flu, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on its website on Sunday. Mexico has reported 1,364 laboratory confirmed human cases of infection, including 45 deaths, while the US has reported 1,639 laboratory confirmed human cases, including two deaths, according to WHO.
