COTABATO CITY, Philippines, Dec 11, 2008 (AFP) - A homemade bomb exploded at a busy junction near a military base in the southern Philippines on Thursday, causing minor damage but no casualties, police said.

Two other devices were found and safely detonated on the outskirts of Cotabato City, local police chief Dante Mama said.

The bomb exploded about 100 metres (yards) from the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division and the domestic airport.

The device, remotely triggered by cellular phone, exploded during morning rush hour but no one was hurt, Mama said.

No one has claimed responsibility, although the improvised explosive device was similar to those used by separatist Muslim rebels engaged in battles with the army since August.
