New Delhi: Accounting regulator Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Icai) on Tuesday criticized RBI’s move to retain the accounts as non-NPAs (non-performing assets) in case of restructuring of loans by certain categories of units and said the decision should be implemented on a case-by-case basis.
In its special regulatory treatment, the central bank recently said accounts that were standard assets (non-NPAs) as on 1 September would not be treated as NPAs if the application for restructuring of loans reach banks by 31 March.
