Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu; targets villages, 8 border outposts

Jammu: Pakistani Rangers indulged in heavy firing and mortar shelling overnight on 8 border outposts (BoPs) and some villages along the international border (IB) in Jammu district, leaving one person injured.

“Pakistani Rangers resorted to small arms firing and mortar shelling along IB in RS Pura sector of Jammu district since 2200 hours last night," a BSF official said on Monday. They targeted eight border outposts (BoPs) and some civilian areas, he said adding that Pakistani Rangers also fired 81 mm mortar shells.

In the firing, Khadim Hussain in Jora Farm village suffered minor splinter injuries, a police officer said.

BSF troops guarding the border line retaliated effectively and the firing exchange continued till 0100 hours today, PRO said.

There have been three ceasefire violations along IB in Samba, Arnia and RS Pura in February this year.

In January this year, Pakistan resorted to several ceasefire violations resulting in death of four people and injuries to seven people.
