CBI files FIR against Jindal Steel, Jindal Strips

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation CBI) said on Sunday that it had registered its 36th first information report (FIR) in the coal blocks allocation case.

The FIR has been registered for the allocation of Gare Palma IV/1 coal block to Jindal Strips Ltd and Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and unknown public servants.

“Allegations pertain to irregular mining lease beyond the approved area, excess coal mining, sale of coal, sale of coal fines and rejects, irregular consumption of coal in new extension plants," a senior CBI official said.

Searches are being conducted at four places at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, the official said.

A JSPL spokesperson said in a statement that all the company’s actions “are in keeping with the legal framework of the country and that it complies with the law in letter & in spirit. JSPL continues to cooperate with all the authorities in a responsive manner.
