Economy | Consumer confidence rising globally: survey
New Delhi: According to a latest survey by the Nielsen Co., the confidence of consumers, globally, is on an upswing, especially that of Indians.
The Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Survey conducted in the second quarter of 2009 indicates that, globally, consumer sentiment is positive as the Consumer Confidence Index has risen to 82 points from 77 in March.
The consumer confidence in India is also on an upswing, registering a rise of 13 points. With 112 index points, India ranks second behind Indonesia (113 points) in consumer confidence, according to the survey.
“With the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government back in power for the second term, consumers are more confident that political and policy continuity will help recover the Indian economy," Vatsala Pant, associate director (consumer research), said in a statement.
