Indians have long been associated with giving. However, of late, a new trend is taking hold as a new generation of philanthropists is turning this into the business of giving. Not only is the quantum of philanthropy now far more significant, it is also being directed to entirely new avenues. With the ecosystem for giving, unlike in the US, still in its infancy, this trend is only slowly taking root in the country. Mint tracks the trend in a history of philanthropy in the last 150 years.
