Malegaon, (Maharashtra):Four people were killed and more than 70 others injured in a bomb blast in the busy Bhikhu Chowk area Monfday, police said.
Eight others, including six policemen, were hurt in stone-pelting after the blast, police said.
Night curfew was imposed in the eastern part of the town after the blast and stone-pelting, police said.
Two of the deceased have been identified as - Sayed Zahir Sayed Nisar and Raifiq Mustafa, police said.
Police also found an abandoned silver coloured motorcycle near the blast site.
The blast created panic in this communally sensitive powerloom town, police said.
Five policemen and Additional Superintendent of Police P. Viresh Prabhu were among the injured in the stone-pelting by a mob, police said. The injured have been rushed to the nearby Wadia and medicare hospitals.
The mob pelted stones on police force in which the jeep of the sub-divisional-magistrate was also damaged.Police also fired in the air to disperse the crowd.
Two years back on 8 September, 31 people were killed and over 300 were injured in three blasts near the Bada Kabrastan on the Shabe-baraat day.
