Energy | NTPC plans to add 3,000MW in FY10

New Delhi: India’s biggest power producer, NTPC Ltd plans to add 3,000MW of electricity generating capacity in the year starting April.
The utility plans to import 12.5 million tonnes (mt) of coal and may spend Rs17,000 crore in the year to March 2010, chairman R.S. Sharma said in New Delhi on Friday.

Sakhalin-2’s first cargo to be shipped to India
London: Russia will send its first cargo of liquefied natural gas from the Sakhalin-2 plant to India rather than Japan, which has differing specifications, an analyst said.
The Grand Aniva LNG carrier is heading to the Hazira LNG terminal in northwest India after loading at Prigorodnoye on Sakhalin Island, AISLive data on Bloomberg show. The ship is due to arrive at Hazira on April 8.
