Mumbai: Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) president Sanjay Nirupam and other party activists were taken into custody in Mumbai on Thursday while they were holding a protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The protest was to highlight the injustice to Mumbai by shifting international financial hub to Ahmedabad and also to oppose the stopping of foodgrain supply to people with APL (above poverty line) cards in ration shops, Nirupam said.
Nirupam, along with other partymen, held a protest near the Ambedkar statue at Cooperage Ground near the Mantralaya, close to the venue of the Prime Minister’s event in Mumbai on Thursday.
The senior Congress leader and other activists have been taken to Colaba police station in south Mumbai, police said.
