IPL spot-fixing case: The judgement day
A three-member SC-appointed committee will give its verdict on the punishment that Meiyappan will face for betting in the sixth edition of the IPL
A three-member Supreme Court-appointed committee, headed by former chief justice of India R.M. Lodha, will on Tuesday give its verdict on the punishment that Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N. Srinivasan, will face for betting in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Supreme Court on 22 January found Meiyappan, a team member of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, and Raj Kundra, co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals, guilty of betting. The Supreme Court set up the three-member panel to determine the quantum of punishment for the two individuals, as well as the fate of their respective IPL franchisees.
