Wet Delhi: Forecast for more rains till Friday

According to the IMD forecast, Delhi will see widespread rainfall on Thursday and downpour in some areas on Friday

Delhi experienced heavy showers on Wednesday morning due to which normal life in the national capital came to a stand still.

According to the IMD forecast, the city will see widespread rainfall on Thursday and downpour in some areas on Friday.

However, from Saturday, Delhi will mostly remain dry.

So far, since the onset of the southwest monsoon, Delhi has received normal rainfall.

Delhi received scanty rainfall till 24 August.This week the situation got better.

Private weather forecaster, Skymet Weather Services, stated on their website, "Today rainfall in Delhi started with light drizzles which took face of torrential downpour after 8.30am. Last three hours since then, Safdarjung observatory, observed heavy rains of 63mm while during the similar time frame, the Palam observatory witnessed hefty showers of 56mm."

“Monsoon trough which was earlier over Madhya Pradesh has shifted to Delhi, due to which the capital is receiving rains.This trough will gradually weaken and will move towards the foothills of Himalayas.This will give showers over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh in the coming days," said Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist at Skymet Weather Services Pvt. Ltd

Palawat added that western Haryana will remain dry in the coming days, while Sonipat and Rohtak will receive light rainfall.

Hyderabad also received heavy showers on Wednesday. Cyclonic circulations are being developed over Andhra Pradesh coast off west-central Bay of Bengal due to which Hyderabad is receiving rains. Hyderabad has received 71mm of rainfall in a span of 3 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday stated Skymet Weather Services on their website.
