Ram, 66, will serve as the group’s last editor-in-chief on 19 January. He will make way for Siddharth Varadarajan as editor of The Hindu, D. Sampath Kumar as editor of The Hindu Business Line, R. Vijayakumar as editor of Frontline and Nirmal Shekar as editor of Sportstar.
Ram will also retire from the post of publisher of the company’s titles, making way for cousin K. Balaji, who oversees production and printing functions within the company. Ram will continue to remain a whole-time director of Kasturi and Sons Ltd (KSL).
He wrote in an email that he was taking the decision “in keeping with the relevant resolutions adopted by the board of directors and the shareholders of KSL on editorial succession.”
