New Delhi: The crisis in the ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala worsened with the Janatal Dal (Secular) withdrawing its lone minister in the cabinet, following the decision of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), taking over the Kozhikode Lok Sabha seat which the party has been contesting from since 1996. Mathew T. Thomas, the transport minister, submitted his resignation to VS Achuthadanandan, late on Monday night. Already, the Communist Party of India, CPI, has raised a revolt, and on Monday announced that it was refusing to accept Hussain Randathani, a candidate proposed by the CPM for the Muslim-dominated Ponnani seat which was allotted to it.
