India, Japan may sign pact on tourism

New Delhi: India and Japan may sign an agreement to explore opportunities in the tourism sector, according to a statement following a meeting between tourism minister K. Chiranjeevi and Japan’s senior vice minister of tourism, Hiroshi Kajiyama, on Tuesday.

Japan is one of the top 10 tourist generating markets for India. There were 193,000 tourists from Japan in 2011, an increase of 14% from 2010, according to government data.
