New Delhi: The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dubbed Liberhan report on the demolition of Babri Masjid on 6 December 1992, as a “national joke” and alleged that justice M.S. Liberhan, the single member of the commission, may have “outsourced” the preparation of the report.
“The report is devoid of any credibility. It is an unimplementable document and a fraud on fact finding process. It is a national joke,” leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha ArunJaitley said.
In identical references to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party said the former prime minister cannot evade responsibility.
“Mr Vajpayee shares some guilt....” noted lawyer and senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi said adding, “he cannot run with the communal hare and hunt with a secular hound”.
Earlier, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh apologized in the Lok Sabha for certain inappropriate words used by a Congress member against Vajpayee.
