New York: The number of billionaires in Asia jumped more than 30% last year, with tycoons from India and China leading the charge, according to the ‘Forbes’ annual billionaires list.

Four Indians figured in the Top 10, with steel giant Lakshmi Mittal placed fourth, followed by petrochemicals tycoon Mukesh Ambani and his estranged brother Anil. Property magnate K.P. Singh came eighth on the list, in which 53 Indians figured. Gautam Adani was the richest newcomer in Asia.
Berkshire Hathaway Inc. chairman Warren Buffett ended Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates’ 13-year reign at the top of the list. Gates fell to third spot on the list behind Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim.
