New Delhi: The Department of Posts is planning to tie up with major transport and logistics service providers for providing end-to-end logistics solutions, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
The Department would offer logistics solutions under Logistics Post service and has called for Expression of Interest by 29 August, Minister of State for Communications and IT Shakeel Ahmad said in a written reply to a question.
He said no agency has been consulted for calling the EOI.
DoP, which had reduced rates for local Speed Post items in June, is taking various other steps to improve the growth rate of parcel business through product improvement and marketing efforts, he said in reply to another query.
The proposal of the Department to set up the ‘Post Office Bank´ in the country was at a conceptual stage and no details have been finalised, Ahmad said, adding the draft national postal policy was also under preparation.
