New Delhi: The oil ministry has recommended that auto fuel prices be freed from government control and revised monthly to reduce losses at state-owned refiners.
The government is seeking political consensus on freeing petrol and diesel prices, as recommended by the Kirit Parikh panel, an oil ministry official said in New Delhi, asking not to be identified. Prices of petrol may rise by around Rs3 a litre and diesel by around Rs4 a litre if the government were to increase prices now, said at the Parikh report.
