New Delhi: In an attempt to reduce the amount of fraudulent agents promising visas to unknowing Indian students, the British Council has created a music rap video to educate people and to help ensure that Indian students are no longer duped out of their life savings to get an education abroad.

de4da1c2-b1a2-11dd-ab82-000b5dabf613.flvThe video was released at an event at the home of Sir Richard Stagg, the British High Commissioner. “We realized that people were applying for student visas and sometimes there were unscrupulous agents around who were charging large amounts of money and not coming up with the visas anyway", says Dan Chugg, Director of Press and Communications for the British High Commission. “We wanted to see what we could do to stop these unscrupulous cases."

They represent the second largest number of international students in higher education in the UK after the Chinese. The number of student visas issued in India has been increasing year on year. 2008 marks another record year with 26,000 student visas issued so far — an increase of 14% from 2007.
