New Delhi: The country’s south-west monsoon, which runs from June to September, may revive around 20 June, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

The monsoon stalled on 7 June after reaching parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, the weather office reiterated on its website. Rains should have reached western Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Bihar by now, it said.

The monsoon’s progress was hampered by tropical cyclone Aila, which lashed the country’s coast on 25 May.
