Shillong: Indian Institute of Management (IIM,) Shillong has become the first among the country’s centrally funded technical institutions and universities to complete implementation of a comprehensive enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.
The institution has completed the implementation of a student system and alumni development solution for higher education from Oracle, officials said.
IIM-Shillong, has implemented various modules from Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Oracle Applications with the help of Citagus India Private Ltd, an IT solutions and services company, IIM authorities said.
This IT implementation has automated all its back-end processes in the institute and has improve‘ time management, data accounting and the efficient management of human resources and staff and student feedback.
“We have sought to reduce manual processes as much as possible, and provide access to real-time information for students and the college management and faculty,” said IIM director professor Ashoke Dutta.
The net result was to free more time and resources, and provide better information for management and faculty to enhance their mission of delivering education programmes to the Institute’s post graduate students
This also enables students to access to a secure, web-based, 360 degree view of their relationship with the institution and also view class and exam schedules, check enrollment appointments, and enroll or change class enrollment among other benefits, the director said at a function organised on the occasion last evening.
IIM Shillong will also be able to more effectively manage relationships with alumni. Some modules of the PeopleSoft Campus Solution provide alumni contributors with access to a detailed history of their involvement with the institution, sources said.
The system will also help create college fund raising strategies and programmes, including target audience cultivation, contact reports, to-do lists, donor management, processing of contributions and communications tracking. Alumni can also make online donations.
