Chandigarh:The city administration would set up the Museum of Knowledge (MoK) in the Capitol Complex here as per the original design plan of French architect Le Corbusier.
Based on the four postulates laid down by Le Corbusier -- ethics, sociology, economics, technology -- the museum would be a state-of-the-art building with discussion rooms, seminar rooms, research facilities and a library-cum-research centre.
It will also house an exhibition/display room with all related facilities.
Envisaged as “a space for the people” by its designer, the museum will complement the other three estates in the Capitol Complex -- Assembly, Secretariat and High Court, an official spokesman said.
With an objective to collect and disseminate information, the MoK would have a digital library storing books, tapes, CDs, computers. Visitors will also avail Internet facility, the spokesman said.
Seminars, debates and discussions on various subjects with special thrust on water conservation and environment protection etc would be organized in the museum throughout the year. Research work would also be carried out in this regard.
The museum would be run by a society under the aegis of Chandigarh Administration which would fund its maintenance. The museum would also generate funds by allowing usage of its various facilities like conference hall for organizing events, the spokesman added.
