As part of its drive ahead of the 3rd National Voters Day, India’s Election Commission engaged in an enrolment drive at the end of which it had 777.8 million people on electoral rolls. In the last four years alone, around 60 million new voters have been enrolled of which 17.6 million are between the ages of 18 and 19—which is in keeping with the shifting demography of the country.

Indeed, 65% of India’s 1.2 billion population is estimated to be under the age of 35; clearly the young voter is a key constituency.
