Lupin launches diabetes drug in the US
Mumbai: Drugmaker Lupin has launched blood sugar lowering drug metformin hydrochloride in the United States (US), the company spokesman said on Thursday.
“Lupin launched its generic Fortamet on 30 September. We understand that Shionogi and Watson have filed a preliminary injunction motion. We intend to contest the motion vigorously," the spokesman said in an emailed reply.
Metformin hydrochloride tablets are generic equivalent of Andrx Laboratories’ branded drug Fortamet and had annual sales of $83 million in the US.
