Varun’s arrest an attempt to tarnish his image: VHP
Chennai: Condemning the arrest of BJP leader Varun Gandhi for his alleged hate speeches in Pilibhit, VHP on Monday said the act is an attempt to tarnish his political image.
“The arrest is an attempt to tarnish his political image," VHP International Working President S Vedantam said here.
Endorsing Gandhi’s stand, he alleged the video clippings of the BJP candidate’s speech had been doctored and maintained that he would not have made such provocative remarks.
“Gandhi is an educated person and he would not have indulged in such kind of speeches. I strongly believe he would not have made such provocative speeches at his level," Vedantam said.
On VHP’s stand on the coming Lok Sabha polls, he said his organisation would not extend support to any political party. Instead, it would ask the people to back a political party which protects the rights of Hindus.
VHP would hold a conference in Tiruchirappalli next month to project various resolutions adopted by “Dhamma Raksha Manch", a newly floated forum whose objectives include declaration of the country as a spiritual nation, he said.
