New Delhi: Delhi police as part of their efforts to professionalise investigation and evidence gathering process will soon set up two exclusive hi-tech interrogation centres besides procuring better forensic gadgets.
Sources in the Delhi Police said the interrogation centres would be the best in its class and would come fitted with all gadgets and equipment necessary to record and transmit everything directly to senior officers sitting in the police headquarters.
Plans are also afoot to provide Internet Protocol (IP) based surveillance system with audio recording services for the existing nine interrogation rooms located all over the national capital.
“The new interrogation centres would be fitted with IP enabled camera besides high sensitivity microphones. They will also be fitted with high resolution LCD monitors and network video and audio recorder,” a senior official said.
He said the interrogation room would look like any other normal room to a suspect who is brought in for questioning as everything would be concealed.
“None of the equipment would be visible to a second party. Every word spoken and all movements inside the room would be recorded,” the official said.
The interrogation rooms are being set up keeping the requirement of the Special Cell of the Delhi Police in mind.
